Calibrator Series

A measurement chain without a verifiable calibration trail cannot support a compliance report. These instruments are not laboratory accessories — they are the basis of the laboratory's commercial existence, and the retro-active damage from an untraceable calibration is the thing that makes labs lose accreditation.

What this family covers

Orifice flow calibrators covering stack-sampler flows, soap film flowmeters for low-volume analysers, combined flow and pressure calibrators with PT100 temperature points, multi-channel gas mixing systems to 1:2000 dilution, constant temperature and humidity weighing systems for gravimetric filter work, and a dynamic olfactometer for odour measurement.

Applications

ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation · instrument verification before and after field campaigns · analyser calibration for stack and ambient monitoring · reference gas preparation · gravimetric filter weighing · odour measurement per EN 13725

How to specify

Match the calibrator to the highest flow you actually verify, not the highest flow that exists. A 5000 L/min instrument in a laboratory that runs 24 L/min samplers ties up capital unnecessarily. Tell us your instrument list and duty cycle and we will specify the smallest system that covers it — the 8040 spans 10 mL/min to 5000 L/min in one chassis for exactly this reason.

Frequently asked questions

Which calibration instrument do I need?

Match it to what you calibrate and how much flow you need. The 7020A at up to 1500 L/min covers stack samplers. The 7030 soap film meter covers low-flow analysers. The 7050B and 8040 cover low, small, medium and large flow plus pressure and PT100 temperature points in one instrument. If you calibrate gravimetric filters, the 8061B constant temperature and humidity weighing system is the relevant unit.

Why does calibration traceability matter so much?

Because the report, not the instrument, is what a regulator accepts. Your accredited body needs a chain traceable to national standards through documented, repeatable verification. A certificate from a source that cannot itself be traced breaks that chain and can invalidate results that were otherwise correctly measured — and the retro-active scope of that invalidation is the painful part. This is why we state the reference standard used and the acceptance tolerance on every calibration record.

Do you calibrate instruments bought through a distributor?

Yes. Calibration and repair service is available for instruments purchased through a distributor, not only for direct purchases. Where an instrument has digital output, remote diagnostics can often identify the fault before a unit is returned.

Is an olfactometer a substitute for a trained panel?

No, and this is the one measurement on this page that cannot be instrument-only. Odour concentration is determined by sensory response; the olfactometer controls dilution and delivery, but the value comes from a trained, rested panel. An olfactometer without panel discipline produces a number that will not survive challenge. Budget for panel training separately.
